Psalm 119:7
I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.
In this verse, the psalmist is revealing the heart of someone who is a diligent worker for the things of God. In today's world, we don't praise hard work. Instead, we seek the things which provide us benefits with the least amount of work. In effect, the spirit of lack abounds freely when we fail to praise God with our diligent work.
The John Locke Foundation conducted a study which reveals this clearly; "counties with high poverty and unemployment rates tend to have the highest rates of lottery ticket sales in North Carolina." What a sad state of affairs when the weak can't say "I am strong." Instead, this world is fool of people who say, "Well, I'm weak so my only chance is luck."
Do you know what LUCK stands for? Laboring Under Carnal Knowledge! I hope that changes your attitude anytime you hear the words "good luck!" Every time I hear those words, my spirit wakes up and I say, "Oh, please, I don't need any luck, in fact, I don't want it. I want God's blessing in everything I do."
The word says "If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth." Deuteronomy 28:1
Did you get that? We praise him with an upright heart and we learn to love His law and obey it and He will set us up high above our enemies. Our enemies won't be able to touch us!
