The hole in our heart.

Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

We can fill our hearts by renewing of the mind. As the word says, Faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of God.

But what happens when our heart has a hole in it? We go to the filling station every Sunday but sometimes by the time we leave the church parking lot our empty warning light is on again.

What good is it to listen to all those CDs and podcasts if we have a hole in your heart? We read the latest book on how to get back in line with God yet we falter and often go back to doing what gets us in trouble. If this is the case for you, you have to know that there is a hole in your heart, and you are in need of a heart doctor!

There is plenty of evidence that the Lord rewards those who diligently obey him, Deuteronomy 28 speaks in length on this. But for those who have a hole in their heart they need to call the heart doctor, Jehovah Rapha, our healer. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. (1 John 3:20)

David understood this when he said "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." He recognized his heart condition and he knew that there was nothing he could do to fix it but to call upon the Lord to come and do the repair.

God is greater than your heart. If you feel like you are not worthy and you don't want to go to church because you screwed up, remember God is greater than your heart, he can fix the hole in your heart!
