A "balanced life"

Proverbs 14:34
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

Many people think a "balanced life" is about excersicing enough righteousness or religion to counter the sin in their lives. But sin has no place in a balanced life and its only purpose is only to disgrace people and destroy them.

Where righteousness exalts a nation, sin destroys it. China was not always under the extreme tyrany of the communist government. Before Mao Tse-tung, there was a period of great prosperity and "riotous living."

I once saw a documentary that talked about pre-communist China and how cities like Shanghai were meccas of sin. They made Las Vegas look like Main Street at Walt Disney. The documentary went on to say that if the communist didn't come in to clean up, God would have had to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!

The founders of this country understood this verse well and set up a foundation that was evidently centered on seeking the kingdom of God and all its righteousness. Everything was then added on to this great country.

Sin disgraces any people. This means yourself, your family, your neighborhood, your church, your city, your company and your nation.

Now it is up to us to tip the scales of our lives towards God so he can continue to give us true balance, bless this great country and let America be exhalted.
