So are you ready for the rains?

Joel 2:23
Rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains.

In a farmer's life the autumn and spring rains are vital. Without one or the other the experience ultimate crop failure. So when the rains comes, he rejoices for there is chance for profit.

There is something very important that is unsaid in this verse. While the rains that God delivers are vital to the farmer's livelihood, his response to the rains is just as vital.

The farmer has to take the appropriate steps which must be timed right with God's blessings of rain. Otherwise crop failure is inevitable.

The same is true in our spiritual life. Many receive God's blessing and they are not be ready. They haven't prepared their soil with humility to be able to receive his rains. They didn't stand watch as the enemy came in the night and sowed seeds of weed and thorns in the field. They allowed distractions to rule them while they should have been working in the field.

So are you ready for the rains?
