1 Corinthians 2:14
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
I can remember a time in my life when I thought that things of God where foolishness. That feeling is not uncommon in this world. You hear of people attacking the faith and even making fun of it. Trusting self is the basis of many growing religions yet it is so obvious to me that trusting self is a sure recipe for doom.
I don't mean that I don't trust myself. I mean that when my own trust for self is greater than my trust in God, I begin to head the wrong way.
I think that's why we have "In God we trust" on our money. It is a way to remember God when handling money. But with more markets trading money electronically, this intended message for monetary transactions is lost. You can now buy and sell most of the time without getting this vital message. No wonder the electronic pornography industry is the largest in the world!
Imagine if a law required the words "in God we trust" below the amount field in any credit card transaction screen. How would that affect the online buying habits of people who have strayed far from God?
I know, you don't have to tell me, this law would never pass!
