Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Self deception abounds these days. Droves of people come out of church on Sundays and by the time they get home they are right back where they started before they confessed their sins at church.
When it comes to the word, how can we do the word when much of the world doesn't even know it well.
I've talked to regular church goers and after some conversation I've heard people say things like "well I don't know much about the Bible, I've been meaning to read more of it but I've been busy."
Let's consider this; you might be an avid football fan. You watch 10 hours of NFL and college football every weekend. Does that make you any good at playing football? Of course not! You have to train, eat right, study plays, listen to your coach and know your teamates.
Same goes for our Christian walk.
