2 Thessalonians 3:3
The Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
Do we realize that the evil one is no match for God? If we are by ourselves he would take us out in a New York minute. But since the Holy Spirit dwells in us, who can be a threat to us?
However, as I read this verse it is sometimes easy to question God because it seems that every time I turn around the evil one inflicts me with yet another a wound. Well, at some point in time we are going to have to realize that we are the ones that give the devil and his demons authority to attack us.
God remains faithful but it is our job to draw near to him for protection. We have to seek the shelter of his mighty hand.
A friend of mine gave me a powerful analogy to explain God's protection plan. God protects us and our families as if we had a big umbrella that shielded us from the rain. However, our disobedience is as if we took a butcher knife and started to poke holes in the umbrella. Now the rains of the evil one have access to you and your family.
Are you holding a butcher knife in your hands? Drop it!
