What do your gifts reflect?

Isaiah 7:14
The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

This is an amazing prophecy hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Its also amazing the way he came to be on earth as Immanuel, "God with us."

Its funny (or maybe not) how many in this season are consumed with what they should get for Christmas. We miss the whole point of the season in our fervency to check of items on a list and checking it twice.

As you think of giving someone a gift, I think we should be thinking of the greatest gift God has given us. That even while we were yet sinners, his gift of salvation through Jesus and the deposit of His power Immanuel within us is the greatest gift ever.

Nothing can match such gift but in commemoration of this graceful fact, we should think about what we give in this season. What good is accomplishing our list of gifts if none of the gifts we have to offer reflects God's greatest gift to us?
